Cleaning Your Home Naturally
without Harmful Chemicals
|
Commercial household cleaning
products are a significant source of toxins,
polluting your indoor air and poisoning your
body, as they’re absorbed through the skin while
you scrub. To cut exposure, make your own
inexpensive, non-toxic cleaning products, using
lemon juice, baking soda,
tea tree oil and vinegar. |
Creamy Soft Scrubber
1/2 cup of baking soda,
enough liquid detergent to make a texture like
frosting.
5-7 drops of Tea
Tree Essential Oil
Simply pour baking soda into a bowl, and add
enough liquid detergent to make a texture like
frosting. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and
wash the surface. This is the perfect recipe
for cleaning the bathtub because it rinses
easily and doesn’t leave grit.
Note: Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin to
the mixture and store in a sealed glass jar, to
keep the product moist. Otherwise just make as
much as you need at a time.
|
Window Cleaner
1/4-1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 cups water
10 drops Clean Glass
Blend to wipe grime off windows.
Bonus: This Blend of oils may repel
flies.
Spray bottle
Put all the ingredients into a spray bottle,
shake it up a bit, and use as you would a
commercial brand. The soap in this recipe is
important. It cuts the wax residue from the
commercial brands you might have used in the
past
|
Oven Cleaner
1 cup or more baking soda
Water
A squirt or two of liquid detergent
Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of
the oven, then cover the grime with enough
baking soda that the surface is totally white.
Sprinkle some more water over the top. Let the
mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up
the grease the next morning because the grime
will have loosened. When you have cleaned up
the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid
detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the
remaining residue from the oven. If this
recipe doesn’t work for you it is probably
because you didn’t use enough baking soda
and/or water.
|
All Purpose Cleaner
1/2 teaspoon washing soda
A dab of liquid soap
2 cups hot tap water
5 drops of Multi
Clean
Combine the ingredients in a spray bottle and
shake until the washing soda has dissolved.
Apply and wipe off with a sponge or rag.
Essential Oils are naturally antiviral,
antifungal, and antibacterial, they naturally
energize, deodorize, clean and refresh. |
Furniture Polish
1/2 teaspoon oil, such as olive (or jojoba, a
liquid wax)
1/4 cup vinegar or fresh lemon juice
7 drops of Wood
Helper essential oil blend
Mix the ingredients in a glass jar. Dab a soft
rag into the solution and wipe onto wood
surfaces. Cover the glass jar and store
indefinitely

Magic of Tea
Tree
Nothing natural works for mold and mildew as
well as this spray. I’ve used it successfully
on a moldy ceiling from a leaking roof, on a
musty bureau, a musty rug, and a moldy shower
curtain. Tea tree oil is expensive, but a
little goes a very long way. Note that the
smell of tea tree oil is very strong, but it
will dissipate in a few days.
2 teaspoons tea
tree oil
2 cups water
Combine in a spray bottle, shake to blend,
and spray on problem areas. Do not rinse.
Makes two cups.
|
Combs and brushes: Fill a
container with 1½ cups water, ½ cup distilled
white vinegar, and 20 drops tea-tree,
lavender,
or eucalyptus
oil. Soak combs and brushes for 20 minutes.
Rinse and air-dry. |
Scuffed floors: Apply two
to four drops of tea-tree
oil to the spots. Wipe excess oil with a
cloth and rub in distilled white vinegar. |
Gum-encrusted items: Orange
essential oil is great at removing this
sticky offender from various materials. (Don’t
worry: It shouldn’t stain fabrics. But do
launder immediately.) Apply with a cotton ball. |
Toilets: Add 2
teaspoons tea-tree
oil and 2 cups water to a spray bottle.
Shake, then spritz along the toilet’s inside
rim. Let sit for 30 minutes; scrub. You can also
place a few drops of your favorite oil on the
inside of the toilet-paper tube to release a
fresh scent.

Essential Oils Arrest Virus' and Bacteria Unlike drugs, Essential oils remain effective against viruses and bacteria.
|
Rise of the Superbugs
Antibiotic overuse is
leading to the emergence of Deadly Superbugs
|
Drug-resistance is an inevitable
consequence of antibiotics. The drugs wipe out
susceptible infections but leave resistant
organisms behind. The survivors multiply and, in
time, can become immune to even the strongest
antibiotics. Though improved surveillance and
hygiene has reduced levels of life-threatening
MRSA and C difficile "superbugs" in
hospitals, resistant strains are on the rise.
Flesh-eating bacteria, known scientifically as
necrotizing fasciitis, occurs when certain types
of bacteria penetrate the skin and then invade
the blood system, eventually eating away at
muscle and fat tissue.
|
Dr. Paul Valnet, MD was the first
medical doctor to research and to write about
the medical application of essential oils in
modern times. Valnet and his colleagues
discovered that essential oils contain
antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and
antiseptic properties as well as being powerful
oxygenators with the ability to act as carrying
agents in the delivery of nutrients into the
cells. They found in laboratory experiments that
the essential oil from thyme literally destroys
the anthrax bacillus, the typhoid bacillus, the
glanders bacillus, staphylococcus, the
diphtheria bacillus, the diphtheria bacillus,
meningococcus, and Koch’s bacillus, which is the
bacteria responsible for tuberculous lesions.
Essential oils are plant essences distilled
or pressed from stems, leaves, fruits and
flowers and they are rich in chemicals like
phenols, monoterpenes, and ketones - the same
chemical molecules that have been isolated or
synthesized by the pharmaceutical industry to
make drugs.
Phenols are
especially potent against viruses and
bacteria, making Essential Oils famous for
fighting germs and supporting the immune
system.
oregano,
Carvacrol,
which makes up 60 percent of oregano
essential oil, can kill spores from
anthrax, e. coli and 25 different types of
bacteria. Oregano is even effective
against penicillin resistant diseases,
besides being strongly antibacterial and
anti-microbial.
black
cumin, - Black cumin is
very effective in helping the healing of
various diseases and maintain a healthy body.
Muhammad said it would cure anything except
death. We have found it works when we are
exposed to contagious pathogens. We
don't come down if we start taking it
immediately. We have also had success
with it once we get sick.
tea
tree, has extraordinary
antiseptic power, contains remarkable
anti-infectious activity.
eucalyptus,
In 19th-century
England, eucalyptus oil was used in hospitals
to clean urinary catheters. Laboratory studies
later showed that eucalyptus oil contains
substances that kill bacteria. It also may
kill some viruses and fungi. Studies in
animals and test tubes also found that
eucalyptus oil acts as an expectorant, meaning
it helps coughs by loosening phlegm.
cinnamon,
-French scientists are
beginning to recommend that sanitizers be
manufactured with cinnamon oil bases. They are
suggesting the usage of cinnamon oils to help
prevent the rise of antibacterial resistance
among these bacteria species, saying that many
of the products currently offered actually
contribute to resistance.
clove,
- dentists still use the clove oil as
an oral antiseptic and to disinfect root
canals. Eugenol is regarded as the primary
anti-microbial compound found in cloves.
There are many scientific citations that
document the powerful anti-microbial
properties of cloves against many
pathogens.
thyme
is an effective disinfectant and natural
preservative that is used in many skin
preparations, not only for its therapeutic
effect, but to protect the product itself from
microbial contamination and spoilage.

Work on Boosting Your
Immune System
|
Sambucus
- one of the most effective agents in the battle
against antibiotic-resistant super pathogens. Or
Immune
- by Natures Way.
Olive
Leaf is also effective in treating strong
strains of fungi, viruses, and illnesses caused
by bacteria. Olive Leaf cleanses the liver,
reduces fevers and chronic fatigue. It has also
been used to treat fibromyalgia, malaria,
intestinal parasites, botulism, hepatitis,
encephalitis, pneumonia, and bladder infections.
Echinacea
is one of the best general remedies for helping
the body rid itself of microbial infections. In
conjunction with other “guiding” herbs (such as
uva ursi,
myrrh,
garlic,
thyme,
mullein, Oregon
grape root, and goldenseal
) it may be used for any infection or
inflammation anywhere in the body. It is often
effective against both bacterial and viral
attacks.
Garlic’s power and value as a healing
agent is unsurpassed and cannot be
overstated…it has been used throughout history
as an effective antibiotic. Garlic’s broad
antimicrobial spectrum incorporates antifungal,
antiparasitic, antiprotozoan, and antiviral
attributes in one food source. Garlic is most
potent chewed or crushed raw. Nothing science
has ever created comes close to doing what
garlic can do.
Oregon
grape root — a great treatment for sore
throats, disorders of the stomach, intestines,
urinary organs, eczema, herpes, psoriasis, acne,
and pimples – contains as one of its
primary constituents, berberine, which can
stop bacteria dead in its tracts. It can be used
as a tea, a wound wash, dried in
capsules, or tinctured.
Raw honey, which has not been pasteurized or
filtered, can be especially useful for
medicinal, antibiotic purposes. Raw honey
can be used: as a preservative, to
sooth a sore throat and ease a cough, treat
minor cuts, scrapes and burns by applying
directly to the affected area.
Nettle
and Elder
Berry Tea - 1 part dried
elderberries and 2 parts nettle leaf tea. Use
use 1 part berries to 2 parts nettle for the
correct immune supporting effect.
Mullein’s gentle nature makes it one of the very
best herbs for use with children. It basically
helps break up bacteria and heal ailments
affecting the upper respiratory tract and
sinuses. Numerous studies report its ability to
reduce upper respiratory infection symptoms,
such as fatigue, sore throat, cough and
headache.
Myrrh
has been used by natural
healers for hundreds of years. It is
touted for its antiseptic, antibiotic and
antiviral properties. It can be taken
internally and used externally as
a gargle or wash for wounds. It is most
commonly recommended for bacterial oral
infections (including mouth sores), bronchitis,
and sore throats. Myrrh should only be used
during the acute phase of the illness and is not
suitable for long-term internal use.
Sage
- It’s ability to heal ailments of
the mouth, teeth, blood, joints, liver, urine,
head, sinuses, throat, lungs, and stomach is
truly amazing!

Homemade
Re-Usable Cleaning Wipes |
The Environmental Protection
Agency cites artificial fragrances in cleaning
products as an indoor irritant and pollutant. A
single fragrance can include as many as 600
petrochemicals—all within the word “fragrance”
on the label. |
Pairing natural cleaners (such as
baking soda, castile soap, vinegar, etc.)
with essential oils only enhances their
cleaning value and leaves behind a pleasant,
natural scent.
Many commercial products contain citrus oils
such as lemon
or lime—they
are natural degreasers and have antimicrobial
properties. |
Cut an old t-shirt (or PJ’s, or
whatever) into “rag-size” cloths.
Pour 1 cup warm water, 1/8 cup (or 1
ounce) liquid castile soap, and 5 – 10
drops of your favorite essential oil into a jar
with a tight-fitting lid.
With its refreshing minty scent and powerful
antibacterial properties, peppermint
essential oil is a perfect complement to
many homemade cleaning products.
Another favorite of mine is 5 drops lavender
essential oil and 5 drops of bergamot
essential oil.
Place the rags into
the jar with the liquid. Maybe 8 - 10 rags
Put the top on the jar (or whatever lidded
container you prefer) and turn upside down a
few times until all the rags are soaked.
After being used, the cloths can be washed
and returned to the jar for REuse over and
over again.

Sun
Screen, A Health Hazard?
|
So what’s in the sunscreen that
makes it such a health hazard? Well, the main
culprit is the parabens. Parabens are like
doormen. Like the doormen in New York City who
open doors for you and carry your things to your
room? Well, that’s what parabens do. They take
everything thats in a product and carry it
straight to your bloodstream, so it can easily
travel to all of your vital organs. Isn’t that
so nice? No need to inject your heart, liver,
and brain with artificial colors, fragrances,
and harmful chemicals such as retinyl palmitate,
oxybenzone, and homosalate which are all linked
to reproductive, developmental, and organ
toxicity, cancer, and cellular disruption;
parabens do it all for you! Yay! Let’s slather
it on our kids everyday for 3-5 months out of
the year! So what can a mom do?
|
How can you protect your family
from overexposure to the sun as well as harmful
chemicals.
|
Homemade Sunscreen
The ingredients;
Coconut
oil is extremely nourishing for your body,
full of antimicrobial, antifungal, and
antibacterial agents, and as an added bonus, it
has an SPF of about 4. (Win!)
Zinc Oxide is where the major SPF comes in; it’s
made when you grind up zinc and expose it to air
or water. Zinc Oxide does not penetrate the skin
like most other sunscreens do, it stays on
the surface of your skin acting as a type of
long sleeve shirt. There is no toxicity known in
it unless the powder is burned and inhaled
|
HOMEMADE SUNSCREEN SPF 20
|
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 Cups
Coconut oil
- 1/2 cup Zinc Oxide powder (use 1 cup for
an SPF of 40)
- 1/2 cup water
DIRECTIONS:
Combine ingredients in a blender, and store
in an airtight container. Freeze when not in
use during colder months.
This produces a very white, thick sunscreen
that will leave your skin a shade or two
whiter when applied. This is because the zinc
oxide stays on the surface and isn’t absorbed
by the skin – a good thing! Just rub the
sunscreen on evenly, and no one will be the
wiser. If you’re looking for an even
simpler approach, here are some awesome oils
with higher SPFs:
Avocado
oil – SPF 4 -1 5
Raspberry seed oil – SPF 28 – 50
Carrot seed oil – SPF 38 – 40
Wheat
germ oil – SPF 20
Shea butter has been used to help heal
burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, psoriasis,
dandruff, and stretch marks. It may also
help diminish wrinkles by moisturizing the
skin, promoting cell renewal, and increasing
circulation. Shea butter also contains
cinnamic acid, a substance that helps
protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
Sesame
oil, Coconut
Oil, Hemp
oil, Avocado
oil, Soybean, and Peanut Oil. All
contain SPF levels between 4-10.
Another Recipe for a Sun Screen
Ingredients
Customize this recipe based on your
budget and what you have available.
-1 ounce oil blend (use any combination of
the oils listed above)
-1 ounce beeswax (adds waterproof
properties)
-1 ounce butter blend (i.e. Shea butter,
mango butter, or cocoa butter)
-1 teaspoon vitamin
E oil
-30 drops essential oils
Beneficial, sun protecting essential
oils include lavender,
myrrh,
and peppermint.
Safe-Sun tips:
Listen to your body - When
you first step into the sun, it feels amazing!
The sun warms you to the core as your skin
drinks in the vitamin D and naturally starts
to detox. After a while, the good feeling will
start to fade and you will begin to feel
overheated and fatigued; this is your sign to
head for the shade. Your body is smart, and it
knows when it’s had enough.
Hydrate - As your body
detoxifies and sweats out impurities, it’s
important to stay hydrated, and not with just
water. Make sure you replenish your
electrolytes as well. A great way to do it is
to make some iced tea with raw honey, a pinch
of sea salt, and some trace minerals.
Protect your eyes -
Eyes are especially sensitive to the sun, so
when you’re gallivanting on the beach in your
itsy-bitsy, grab a hat or some shades. You’ll
look mysterious while protecting your precious
peepers.
Rest - The sun can be
draining, so don’t dive straight into a game
of chicken after a competitive match of
volleyball. Give your body time to recuperate
from it’s work out, and remember to…
Eat - As the sun gets
hotter, our appetites get smaller. That may
work out for us as we strip off our layers,
but we cannot neglect to give our bodies the
seasonal health foods it so badly craves. Next
time you head to the beach, pack some
watermelon, berries, nuts, and salads to keep
your strength up all summer long.

HIPPOCRATES 10 RULES TO LIVE BY |
Hippocrates was a Greek
Nutritionist, Physician and Surgeon who lived
from approximately 460 B.C. until around 370
B.C. He is considered “The Father of Medicine”
and is credited as being the first physician who
believed that diseases were not caused by
superstition or gods, but rather that diseases
had natural causes.
Hippocrates beliefs were designed and completely
laid out over 2500 years ago as ten rules.
Western medicine and many western lifestyles
seem to have disregarded and strayed from these
rules. These are the same rules used to develop
the Hippocratic oath taken by all doctors.
|
The natural way is the
only way. This
should be an obvious medical pursuit, according
to Mother Nature and Hippocrates. |
Treat the cause of an
illness, not the symptom. Modern
synthetic drugs just mask the illness, but never
deal with the origin. |
Look to the spine for
illnesses. Hippocrates
strongly suggested this which relates to modern
day Chiropractic treatment. Also look at this; Chart of Effects of Spinal
Misalignments Found Here> > >
|
Throw away your drugs and
heal the people with food. Food
is medicine – medicine is food. Hippocrates knew
that food had health giving qualities – now
known as protein, vitamins and minerals. |
Most illness can be
prevented by eating natural foods. The
majority of foods that Americans consume are
processed, refined, overcooked, full of
chemicals, pesticides, artificial ingredients,
xenohormones, antibiotics, and grown in mineral
depleted soil.

A healthy colon is
essential. The U.S.
Government reports that colon problems are
dramatically increasing in America.
You are what you eat. Over two-thirds of
neurotransmitters are made in the gut. The gut
is considered the second brain since the
majority of serotonin (90-95 percent) is made in
the gut, not the brain. If your gut is inflamed
or not functioning optimally, production of
serotonin will be impaired and the end result
can be depression. Bear in mind that an
inflamed gut = an inflamed brain = increased
risk of depression and dementia. In
addition to neurotransmitters, 80 percent of the
immune system cells line the gastrointestinal
tract, creating a protective, impermeable
barrier.
Dr. Christopher knew that more than ninety
percent of all disease is caused by congestion
in the colon. Processed foods weaken the bowel,
creating pockets and balloons filled with old
fecal matter, a perfect place for germs to
proliferate. And the hard material absorbs
moisture, spreading the toxins back into the
body.
Lower Bowel
works not only as a laxative to clean the bowel,
but as a food to tone, rebuild and strengthen
the colon at the same time.
|
Do not administer
dangerous and harmful medications. The
F.D.A. admits that prescription drugs kill
50,000 – 350,000 people a year in America. |
Do no harm to your
patients. The New
England Journal of Medicine reports
that the end result of most drug therapy is
harmful side effects. |
Do not perform surgery
for money. The U.S.
Government reports that 75% of all surgeries in
this country are unnecessary. |
The word protein means
most important. Hippocrates
named protein as the most essential food we
should consume, as the greater percentage of our
bodies are comprised of it. |
Reversing Inflammation |
Over many
years we have found that preventing or
reversing inflammation is all about
listening to your body. From that
listening you can begin to learn
first-hand what increases or reduces your
body’s inflammatory response. You can cool
your body’s inflammatory response and keep
it healthier over time by taking one step
at a time, at a pace that feels right for
you. This is the approach we have found to
be most effective and sustainable over the
long term. -
At the heart of
many pain-causing conditions is chronic
inflammation. A natural immune response to
infection or injury, inflammation can become
chronic due to factors like poor diet,
stress, lack of exercise, and exposure to
environmental toxins.
If you suffer
from an inflammation-related condition such
as arthritis, neck and back pain, or
tendonitis, adding anti-inflammatory herbs
to your health regimen may help you manage
your pain. Although not as fast-acting as
standard pain medication, such herbs may
significantly diminish your pain when used
regularly (especially when combined with
daily exercise and the practice of
relaxation techniques, both of which can
provide pain reduction).
