Pesky Mosquito recipes for Insect repellent - chemical free!

Using Catnip which is 10 times more effective than Deet. read more info click here >>>>

Pest Away Blend Contains:

Citronella: antiseptic, antibacterial, antidepressant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, deodorant, diaphoretic, febrifuge, fungicidal, insect repellent, (mosquitos)

Cedarwood: kind to the skin, insecticidal,

Eucalyptus: Good for, skin infections, malaria, eucalyptus essential oil is fantastic on skin ailments; burns, blisters, wounds, insect bites,

Peppermint: oil could be a new, cheap weapon in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, filariasis, dengue fever and West Nile virus. The oil not only repels adult mosquitoes but also kills the larvae. Gives good protection all day.

Catnip: According to recent studies at Iowa State University, catnip may discourage mosquitoes. The university has patented nepetalactone, the primary ingredient in catnipoil, and hopes to develop products to thwart mosquitoes.

Recipe: Plain water will do. Mix 15 drops of  Pest Away/w Catnip with 2 oz. of water. Use as a spray -- just shake the sprayer first to mix the oil and the water.

Also available in a roller bottle with a carrier oil.

Gives good protection all day. citronella, cedarwood, eucalyptus, peppermint, with catnip.

Use Pest Away/w Catnip  to make a spray. Mix about a half-teaspoon of essential oil  with 1 cup  alcohol and 1 cup water. Shake well and spray lightly on clothing, arms and legs.  (We prefer Everclear from the liquor store.)

Brew a catnip and vinegar spritz. Crush the leaves by using a rolling pin or scrunching them with your hands 2 cups catnip leaves and add to 3 cups white or rice vinegar in a quart jar. Seal and store in dark cupboard. Shake every day for 2 weeks. Strain mixture into clean jar and refrigerate. Use as a light spritz on clothes, arms or legs. Some say the vinegar keeps the mosquitoes away, other say the catnip does the work.

Gather 2 cups catnip and 1 cup rosemary leaves. Crush the leaves by using a rolling pin or scrunching them with your hands. Put the leaves in a clean jar and cover with 2 cups unscented Carrier Oil   or vegetable Glycerine. Store in a cool dark cupboard for 2 weeks. Shake the jar lightly every day. After 2 weeks, strain out the leaves and pour the oil into a clean jar. Refrigerate and use the catnip body oil as needed.

Grow catnip plants in your garden or indoor planter. Take off a leafy stalk, crush the leaves and rub them on skin or clothing. Wear catnip leaves crushed in a handkerchief or bandanna around your neck. If you are not sensitive to catnip, try rubbing a fresh catnip leaf on pulse spots such as behind ears, inside elbows and wrists, behind knees and at ankles.

Many Diseases have been attributed to Parasites. Cleansing and getting rid of these parasites have given physical relief to some.
Parasites are living things that use other living things - like your body - for food and a place to live. You can get them from contaminated food or water, a bug bite, or sexual contact. Parasitic diseases can cause mild discomfort or be deadly.

My daughter was taking  a college class when the professor asked, "How many of you have parasites?" no one raised there hands. Then he asked "How many of you have animals?" a few raised there hands. Then he asked "How many de-worm your animals regularly. . . you have parasites."

Some symptoms of parasite infections may include:

Constipation: Some worms, because of their shape and large size, can physically obstruct certain organs. Heavy worm infections can block the common bile duct and the intestinal tract, making elimination infrequent and difficult.

Gas and Bloating: Some parasites live in the upper small intestine where the inflammation they produce causes both gas and bloating. The situation can be aggravated by eating harder-to-digest foods such as raw fruits and vegetables and beans. Persistent digestion problems can often be a sign of parasites.

Anemia: Some varieties of intestinal worms attach themselves to the lining of the intestines and then rob nutrients from their human host. If there are large numbers of them they can create sufficient blood loss to cause a type of iron deficiency or anemia.

Diarrhea:

Joint and muscle aches and pains

Allergies

Acne, rashes, and other skin disorders can be caused by microscopic parasites.

Sleep Disturbances: Can be caused by nocturnal exits of certain parasites through the anus creating intense discomfort and itching.   It is usually pinworms. see below for more pinworm information.

Nervousness :Parasitic metabolic wastes and toxic substances can act as irritants to the central nervous system. Restlessness and anxiety can be the direct result of a systemic parasite infestation.

Tooth Grinding /Clenching:-abnormal grinding, clenching and gnashing of the teeth has been observed in cases of parasitic infections.. These symptoms are very noticeable among sleeping children.  Very often pinworms.

Pinworms -  You can test by wrapping scotch tape around your fingers with the sticky side out and putting it against the anus/rectum early in the morning before a bowel movement or anything.  If it is pin worms you will see them on the tape.  You get them from touching door handles that people who don't wash their hands touch.

Parasite syrup has been the most effective defense against Pinworms, we have found.

Women and Parasites

Infection with a number of parasites can lead to special consequences for women. Some examples are given below.

  • Infection with Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite found in undercooked meat, cat feces, soil, and untreated water can lead to severe brain and eye disorders in a fetus when a pregnant woman becomes newly infected.
  • Trichomonas vaginalis, a parasite that can be passed between partners, can lead to vaginal infection and increase a woman’s susceptibility to human immunodeficiency virus infection. (HIV)
  • Pregnant women in malaria-endemic countries are at increased risk for adverse effects of malaria infection (for example, miscarriage, low birth weight).
  • Women with young children and children in day care are more likely to be exposed to parasites that cause diarrhea such as Giardia intestinalis and Cryptosporidium spp., ectoparasites such as lice (Pediculus spp.), and pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) that cause anal itching.
  • Chagas disease, a vector-borne parasitic illness prevalent in parts of Central and South America resulting from infection with the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, can be transmitted from a pregnant woman to the developing fetus and may lead to heart and brain infection, and in addition, chronic disorders later in the child’s life.
  • Anemia in a pregnant women resulting from hookworm infection (Necator americanus, Ancyclostoma duodenale) can lead to low infant birth weight, impaired milk production, and a higher risk of mortality for both the mother and infant.
  • Anemia can also be caused by malaria, and in pregnant women in malaria-endemic countries, anemia can result in low infant birth weight and a higher risk of mortality for mother and infant.
  • Pregnant women often need special consideration when being treated for parasitic diseases in order to avoid harm to the fetus, especially during the first trimester.

Belly Diminishing Foods
MUFAs are foods rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, healthy fats that research links to less belly fat and better overall health. Your body digests MCFA's more easily than other fats. In fact, they follow a completely different pathway when eaten. They're sent directly to your liver to be metabolized and converted into a rapid source of energy. This leads to an increase in your metabolism, improving your chances for faster weight loss and providing more energy. The best part: MUFAs are found in rich, delicious foods like:
Oils:
Olive oil: is the best all around for cooking and salads because it contains mostly MUFA, which lowers "bad" LDL cholesterol without affecting "good" HDL cholesterol. The greener the oil, the more antioxidants, so go for extra-virgin. Olive oil has healthy fat that increases satiety, taming your appetite. Research shows it has anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation in the body is linked to metabolic syndrome.
Flaxseed oil: is the best plant source of omega-3 fatty acids and helps reduce systemic inflammation, which researchers believe may lead to heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
Coconut oilRecent research has shown this tropical oil may increase your metabolism and help you burn fat faster.
Nuts and Seeds
Pistachios are becoming widely known as the “skinny nut," They are loaded with heart-healthy unsaturated fat which has been proven to reduce blood cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease.
Walnuts: have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts.
The MUFAs and vitamin E in almonds work together to cut cholesterol. Almonds are also a great source of vegetable protein and fiber.
Avocado:
Avocados, a great source of heart-healthy MUFA, contain more of the cholesterol-smashing beta-sitosterol than any other fruit.
Dark Chocolate:
Chocolate or, more specifically, cocoa powder made from ground, defatted cocoa beans, contains compounds that have the potential to protect against heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes.

Shea butter as a Natural Sunscreen
Protects the skin from both environmental and free-radical damage. It contains vitamins A and E, and has demonstrated both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Shea butter has been used to help heal burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, psoriasis, dandruff, and stretch marks. It may also help diminish wrinkles by moisturizing the skin, promoting cell renewal, and increasing circulation. Shea butter also contains cinnamic acid, a substance that helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
  • Daily skin moisturizer (face and body)
  • Dry skin relief
  • Dry scalp
  • Skin rash- including diaper rash
  • Skin peeling, after tanning
  • Blemishes and wrinkles
  • Itching skin due to dryness
  • Sunburn
  • Shaving cream to reduce razor irritation
  • Small skin wounds
  • Skin cracks
  • Soften tough skin on feet (especially heels)
  • Stretch mark prevention during pregnancy
  • Minor burns
  • Eczema

  • Absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue
  • Helps restore elasticity to skin
  • Restores luster to hair

Heal the Burn

Use compresses Following a burn, skin is inflamed. Cool it down with compresses dipped in any of the following substances.

  • Cold water. Use either plain water from the faucet or add a few ice cubes. Dip a cloth into the liquid and lay it over the burn. Repeat every few minutes as the cloth warms. Apply several times a day for a total of 10 to 15 minutes each.
  • Aluminum acetate. If itching is intense, try mixing Domeboro's powder packets (available in drugstores) with water. The aluminum acetate in the powder keeps skin from getting too dry or itchy. Follow package directions.
  • Witch hazel. Moisten a cloth with witch hazel. This incredible astringent has been shown to have long-lasting anti-inflammatory relief. Apply often for temporary relief. For smaller areas, dip cotton balls into the liquid and gently wipe on.

 Check the kitchen

  • Oatmeal. Wrap dry oatmeal in cheesecloth or gauze. Run cool water through it. Discard the oatmeal and soak compresses in the liquid. Apply every 2 to 4 hours.
  • Fat-free milk. Mix 1 cup fat-free milk with 4 cups water, then add a few ice cubes. Apply compresses for 15 to 20 minutes; repeat every 2 to 4 hours.
  • Cornstarch. Add enough water to cornstarch to make a paste. Apply directly to the sunburn.
  • Lettuce. Boil lettuce leaves in water. Strain, then let the liquid cool several hours in the refrigerator. Dip cotton balls into the liquid and gently press or wipe onto irritated skin.
  • Yogurt. Apply yogurt to all sunburned areas. Rinse off in a cool shower, then gently pat skin dry.
  • Tea bags. If your eyelids are burned, apply tea bags soaked in cool water to decrease swelling and help relieve pain. Tea has tannic acid, which seems to ease sunburn pain.

Avoid soap

Do not soak in soapy water. Likewise, stay away from bubble baths. If you must use soap, use only a mild brand and rinse it off very well.

What you can do is take a cool bath, as an alternative to compresses. Add more water as needed to keep the temperature cool. Afterward, gently pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Do not rub your skin, or you'll irritate it further.

You can also add one of the following to reduce pain, itching, and inflammation.

  • Vinegar. Mix 1 cup of white or apple cider vinegar into a tub of cool water. A great astringent, it soothes sunburn pain.
  • Aveeno powder. If the sunburn involves a large area, use the premeasured packets or add 1/2 cup of Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment, made from oatmeal, to a tub of cool water. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Aveeno is a well-known remedy for itching.
  • Baking soda. Generously sprinkle baking soda into tepid bathwater. Instead of toweling off, let the solution dry on your skin. It is completely nontoxic, and it will soothe the pain.

Moisturize

Soaks and compresses feel good and give temporary relief, but they can make your skin feel drier than before if you don't apply moisturizer immediately afterward. Pat yourself dry, then smooth on some bath oil.

Let it soak in for a minute, then apply a moisturizing cream or lotion, such as Eucerin.

SMART TIP: Chill your moisturizer in the fridge for added relief.

Know good ingredients

  • Soothe with aloe: Aloe vera may really help wound healing.  Simply break off a leaf and apply the juice. But test a small area first, he cautions, to make sure you're not allergic to aloe.
  • Guard against infection: If you have an infection or are worried that one will develop, use an over-the-counter antibacterial ointment such as Polysporin or Neosporin.
  • Numb with an anesthetic: If your burn is mild, an over-the-counter anesthetic can relieve pain and itching. Look for brands that contain benzocaine, benzyl alcohol, lidocaine, or diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Aerosols are easier to apply than creams or ointments, but never spray them directly onto your face. Instead, put some on a piece of gauze or a cotton pad and pat it on your face to avoid contact with your eyes.

Go to the freezer

An ice pack can also provide relief if the burn is mild. Wrap it in a damp cloth and hold it over the sunburn. Improvise, if necessary. You could even take a bag of frozen vegetables, for instance, and use that. But make sure to wrap it first so that you're not placing the icy package directly against your skin.

Eat and drink!Put the right stuff in your body to aid your skin-saving efforts.

SMART TIP: If your legs are burned and your feet are swollen, elevate your legs above heart level to help stop the swelling.

After you've gotten burned, it takes 3 to 6 months for your skin to return to normal. When you get a sunburn and the top layer of skin peels off, the newly exposed skin is more sensitive than ever. That means you'll burn even faster than you did before if you're not careful.
