Fizzy Bath Bomb
In the hustle bustle of the holidays my little girl started getting really emotional! I realized as we had family from out of town, shopping, and just a lot of busy going on, she was just having a really problem dealing with it all.
I made a batch of   Fizzy Bath Bombs up, added a few drops of Citrus Blend (because it - helps children gain the feeling of well being)  . . .  put my little girl in the tub. After chasing the Fizzy Bomb around the tub and inhaling the benefits of Citrus Blend, she calmed down and was a new little girl.
These are so easy to make, and depending on the essential oil, or blend you use, the Gift Ideas are endless. This recipe goes to the bottom of the tub and slowly releases, bubbles and aroma from the Essential Oil.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup citric acid (this is just vitamin C powder)
1 cup baking soda
3/4 cup corn starch
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon olive oil
10 - 15 drops essential oil of choice
Mix citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, and sugar in a bowl. (you can mix with mixer, blender . . . just mix well.)
Add olive oil, you will notice it clumps just keep mixing with your hand.

Now  you LIGHTLY mist with a spray bottle filled with water, don't let it fizz or your batch is ruined. If it starts to fizz, just quickly mix in with the rest. Now keep mixing, spray, mix until you can squeeze the mixture and a ball forms.
I used a plastic Tablespoon scoop, others have used a plastic egg from Easter, as a mold.
I packed the scoop tightly and gently tapped it out onto a waxed paper cookie sheet to dry over night.
This is when I choose to add a drop or 2 or 3 of Essential oils to each 1/2 ball. This way I think the sent is added to each bomb more effectively.
This Bath Bomb recipe stays on the surface and releases its fizz quickly.
2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
4 Tablespoons olive oil
Essential oil of choice
spay bottle

Mix citric acid, baking soda, in a bowl.

I used a plastic Tablespoon scoop, others have used plastic egg from Easter.
I packed the scoop tightly and gently tapped it out onto a waxed paper to dry over night.
Then add your essential oil drop or drops to each ball.
Now store in an airtight container.
Adding Peppermint to your Fizzy Bomb makes a great Muscle Ache remedy
Lavender a great tension re-leaver
Citrus Blend is very uplifting for adults and helps children gain the feeling of well being.
Soap Sugar Scrub Bars
1 part oil
2 parts soap (grated)
3 parts sugar
Essential Oil of your choice I used Peppermint it smells so festive!
In a microwave safe container, combine Oils with Soap - (you can use any unsented soap of choice, I used Jergens.) I grated some of my soap finely.  I used Olive oil and put it into a bowl with the soap shreds and put this into the microwave.  This I then heated in short bursts and stirred regularly.  When everything had melted I took it out and let it cool just a bit and then stirred in the sugar.
Quickly add the essential oil after the sugar is starting to incorporate and cool down the mix.  Mix until the batch looks like a dough ball of sorts, which is what should happen and it was really hot. If it's not a dough ball then your bars may not firm up as well. Put the mix into your mold.  Put the mold into the freezer for about 5 to 10 minutes then pop out,  and let air dry for a day or so before storing in a dry and air tight container.
Chocolate and Peppermint Lotion Bar or Chocolate  Orange Lotion Bar
3 ounces Beeswax
3 ounces cocoa butter
3 ounces coconut oil
2 teaspoons peppermint oil

Melt beeswax, butter, and oil in a heavy pot on very low or over a double boiler.
Once melted, remove from heat and leave to cool for a few minutes.
Add peppermint essential oil and stir with a wooden skewer to distribute.
Pour into molds ( I used a ice tray)
Allow to cool.
These lotion bars can cool on the counter, but I usually put my ice tray in the freezer for about 30 minutes. They are ready very quickly that way and it’s also easier to pop them out of the tray.
To give as a gift place the lotion bar in a small cellophane bag and tie with some raffia.
I keep one of these bars in a small dish in a drawer of my nightstand so I can apply lotion to my hands and feet before bed. A dish close to the kitchen sink also works well.
To make the lovely Orange Chocolate lotion bar just add 2 teaspoons of Orange essential oil! Instead of Peppermint!
Soothing Lavender Salve

(Makes ½ cup, enough for two, small, 2-ounce jars)

¼  cup dried lavender flowers
5 to 7 drops lavender essential oil
2 tablespoons beeswax pellets
½ cup virgin olive oil

Tools

Heavy saucepan
Glass liquid measuring cup
Clean jars for finished salve (I use 2 ounce jars)
cheesecloth
Rubber band
tea towels

Pour the oil into a heavy saucepan.

Add lavender flowers. Stir to combine.

Warm slowly over low heat. Once warm, turn off heat and let sit for 20 minutes.

Place cheesecloth over measuring cup and secure with a rubber band

Strain lavender/oil mixture through cheesecloth Once most of the oil has dripped through, remove rubber band and pull the cheesecloth around the lavender. Squeeze any excess oil into the measuring cup. (Have a towel nearby; your hands are going to be oily!)

Put a few inches of water into pan, place cup (with olive oil) into pan. Warm slowly over low heat until the water is simmering.

While the water is warming, add  2 tablespoons of beeswax to the olive oil.

Let this mixture sit in simmering water and stir occasionally until the beeswax has melted. This takes about 10 minutes.

Once melted, add the 5 drops of lavender essential oil and pour into clean jars.

Allow to cool completely before putting the lid on.

Keeps for 6 months to a year.

Sugar Scrub Recipe
As we age, our skin can often use a little help in shedding dead skin cells. So many chemical based exfoliating products are available, but they can be harsh and expensive. Natural sugar scrubs are a wonderful alternative. They more gently polish and exfoliate the skin, are luxurious and smell naturally delicious. They can be used on the body and feet.

You can make Exfoliating Sugar Scrubs yourself. It's quick, easy, affordable and allows you to tailor the proportions to match your skin type and preferences.

This customizable recipe will make approximately one 8 ounce jar or two 4 ounce jars of Exfoliating Sugar Scrub.

Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces Sugar
  • 1 ounce Vegetable Glycerin
  • 1 ounce Liquid Castille Soap
  • 1/4 tsp. Essential Oil
Directions:
Add the sugar to a small-medium mixing bowl. Add the oils, glycerin and castille soap to the sugar and mix well with a fork. Add the essential oil and mix well.
Essential Oil Suggestions:
I personally like Patchouli Essential Oil for skin care . . . because it's good for: (cracked and dry skin, loose skin, enlarged pores, simple water retention, aids scars, wrinkles, wounds, tissue re-generator) ,and its aroma marries well with the aroma of the sugar. I usually also add a few drops of Orange Essential OilCitrus Blend makes a wonderful sent for the holidays. For an invigorating sugar scrub, try Spearmint Essential Oil. Peppermint Essential Oil could also be used, but in an exfoliant recipe.

The finer the texture of the sugar, the more exfoliation that it will impart onto the skin.

Vegetable glycerin acts as a natural moisturizer and humectant that draws moisture to the skin. Its use allows less vegetable oil to be used in the scrub. Too much vegetable oil can leave you feeling too oily.

Nourishing vegetable oils and vegetable glycerin are used to help fortify the skin that is revealed after exfoliation. If you have oily skin, you can experiment by reducing the proportion of vegetable oil used in the recipe. Be sure to stick with light vegetable oils.

Avoid using mineral oil (also known as baby oil). Mineral oil clogs the pores and can be harmful to the skin.

The Vitamin E Oil  helps to nourish the skin and also helps to extend the shelf life of the scrub. Vitamin E capsules can be used in place of Vitamin E Oil. To use capsules in the recipe, carefully cut the tips off 2-3 capsules and squeeze the capsule contents into the sugar scrub and mix well.
Lavender Body Oil
Body oil is excellent for dry skin. It feels extremely luxurious, but need not be kept for special occasions; body oil is a perfect moisturizer for every day use as it hydrates skin exceptionally well.
  • 2/3 cup oil  Grapeseed oil
Note: It is nice to use a variety of oils to make up the 1 cup. Such as jojoba oil, emu oil because it is good for: dry skin, stretch marks, under-eye puffiness, age spots, wrinkles, cuticles and nails. Grapeseed oil, or  almond oil.

  • 1/3 cup Wheat Germ Oil

Pour all ingredients into a bottle, cap and shake to blend.

Lemon Lime Sugar Scrub
1/3 cup virgin coconut oil, melted over low heat.
2 cups sugar
20 drops lime essential oil
3-5 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops orange essential oil
3 drops bergamot essential oil
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
(May substitute Safflower, Jojoba or Avocado oil.
Or make a mix of a few of these to add up to ½ cup)

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients, except for olive oil, in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add olive until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Put in a pretty jar! And add a label.
Peppermint Bath Salts
3 cups of Epsom salt
2 cups of sea salt
peppermint essential oil for the scent
Food coloring if you would like different colors and separate the white into different bowls to to add the coloring and mix it very very well.

Want to understand cancer better?
Here's something to think about:

A cancerous body has lost the ability to turnover 30 billion cells daily. Which means old and dead cells build up over time. These dead cells begin to ferment, creating an acidic environment. The living cells around this area start being starved of nutrients, and they also die and add to the metabolic waste build up. An acidic environment means there's no oxygen getting to any of these cells.

So now what we have is an environment where normal healthy cells cannot survive, the build up will continue to spread unless the cancer patient makes some different lifestyle changes. The body is very good at cleaning up toxic mess, we just need to give it the right tools to do so, high quality natural foods, fresh air, sunlight, hydration, trying to manage stress, getting out and doing fun things, exercising.... yes all of these things help the body flush out the crap and begin repairing and nourishing.
Find some good detox recipes here > > >

Detoxing of your Body through Bathing Article

OK, so back to this nasty environment.... all cells around the area of the metabolic waste are dying, the blockage is slowly building. Do we all understand that if this continues ALL cells die which = death, right? The person would no longer be living...... BUT the body can do some remarkable "last resort" things. It realizes that if it doesn't do something soon this body will perish, so instead of normal cells dying, some begin to mutate into CANCER cells. Cancer cells are the only cells that are able to live off this waste. Remember that any living cell in the body is better than no living cell. The cancer cell begins to feed off the acidic environment and metabolic waste. More cells think "hey that's a good idea, I'm going to mutate too"... eventually we have a gathering of cancer cells. Yes, they live off sugar, yes they live off waste... but what other option do they have? There's no more oxygen, fats or nutrient in this environment.

Finally a tumor is formed, the reason why it grows is because it sucks in A LOT of the metabolic waste, the body knows that if the acidic environment spreads to the organs the the body really will kick the bucket. Here we can see that cancer cells and tumors are more of a clean up crew, they've been thrown into a disgusting and gross situation. Cancer cells are a SYMPTOM of the main problem. THE PROBLEM is not being healthy enough to turn over 30 billion cells a day, remember?

Now, lets look at western medicine. As usual they have a symptom-orientated approach, it's never going to fix the problem, but hey... lets nuke the cancer cells and take out the tumors anyway. Sure, lets get rid of the clean up crew. So the clean up crew is now gone, yet the problem is still growing, and soon enough the cancer either comes back or there's a "secondary cancer" that shows up for the same reason the first one did.

Does it seem dumb to anyone else that to treat a toxic body, they put more toxic substances into it? LUNACY!!!! Why is there never any talk about natural methods to heal and nourish the body? The body has the ability to make and get rid of cancer cells everyday. Once the body is nourished properly, it no longer has a need for cancer cells and they get turned over with the rest of the 30 billion cells.

FYI: if you get sick often, this is a cry for help, your toxins are slowly building up. Sickness is the first sign of your body struggling to get rid of old cells. Bacteria and infections can only feed off dead cells... if you've got a cold or flu, then you've got build up of dead cells, the body is trying to rid itself of these dead cells - yet we do everything we can to stop it from doing so.

So, in knowing all of this, treating cancer should simply be natural. But hang on a sec. Nothing natural can be patented by pharmaceutical companies - no profit will be made from this. Did you know it's illegal for cancer researchers to look into natural treatments? The pharmaceutical company PAYS scientists to study a drug that will make profit for the company. The American Cancer Council is the RICHEST not for profit company in the world. The cancer industry makes billions of dollars off every new cancer drug they send out. Our donations are pocket money. If funding was helping then why is the prevalence of cancer getting worse, why is it affecting younger and younger people? Why doesn't western medicine have a higher success rate of survivors? Why is there no prevention, only treatment?
10 years ago I didn't know anyone who had cancer, today I know at least 15.

Instead of donating your hard earned cash to cancer (and being part of the problem) start researching and educating friends and family instead. Start learning how to nourish your bodies - it's not magic.

The body never does anything wrong. It does everything for a reason. Take note of the signs.

Rhodiola Rosea

In ancient medicine, Rhodiola was used for pain, headache, scurvy, hemorrhoids, as a stimulant, an anti-inflammatory, to enhance fertility, and for the treatment of cold and flu.

Current medical and pharmacological tests indicate benefits in relieving fatigue, increasing attention span, improving memory, and boosting work productivity in healthy individuals.

General benefits include heartbeat regulation, preventing stress-induced cardiac damage, improved sexual function, increased physical work capacity with dramatically shortened recovery periods, menopausal-related disorders, and depression.

Over 300 human studies on Rhodiola rosea show that the plant has anti-stress, anti-anxiety, and anti-depressant properties, and that taking the extract of the root produces no significant negative effects. This is in sharp contrast to drugs for the same purposes, which typically cause sleep disorders, digestive upset, sexual dysfunction and a variety of mood disorders.
Stress is an inevitable fact of life, but it can have serious consequences on our mental and physical health. Effective strategies for managing stress are therefore essential to thrive in a fast-paced world. Research suggests that rhodiola may offer a practical, natural solution for overcoming many stress-related complaints.
Rhodiola rosea relieves stress by balancing the body’s stress-response system. This consists of the sympathetic nervous system (which prepares the body to expend energy during crises, often described as the “fight or flight response”) and the counterbalancing parasympathetic nervous system (which recharges and heals the body, returning it to a relaxed state). With constant stress, the system becomes unbalanced, making us feel edgy, tired, or depressed. Rhodiola rosea helps re-establish balance by acting as an adaptogen—an agent that strengthens the body’s response to physical, mental, and emotional stressors.

It’s never too late to address unexpressed emotion stored in the body as pain, tightness, and discomfort.

When we look at the language we use to talk about emotional reactions, there is often a physical sensation associated as well: a lump in the throat, butterflies in our stomachs, a gut feeling, the weight of the world on our shoulders. This isn’t coincidental! Those visceral reactions are messages from our body.

We hear this referred to as “the mind-body connection.” It’s often associated with using the mind or positivity to help boost the immune system or physically feel better. While that is certainly a helpful boost, we shouldn’t ignore what our bodies can do to help heal our emotions.

Most of us can recall a time growing up where we were discouraged from releasing a painful emotion by well-meaning adults. Parents tell little boys to “be a tough guy” or “shake it off” when they get hurt, while women are encouraged and socialized to discuss their feelings. Our bodies hang on to what happens with our emotions—even if we’ve “talked ourselves out of it.” The physical and emotional impact of unexpressed pain is one that lasts. Unexpressed pain sticks around.

Below are some typical patterns of stored emotion in the body as recognized within the bodywork community. Each person has their own patterns as well, but these are some common patterns :

Our bodies are aware of the things that our minds would like to push aside. The things that we have forgotten at a conscious level are still present all the time in our bodies. The good news is that it’s never too late to address these issues, and that the results can help with both physical and emotional pain.

A few steps we can take to release unresolved emotion:

  1. Find a daily physical practice you enjoy. Notice I didn’t say “exercise.” Caring about our health and fitness is important, but the intention here is a physical activity that we love. It helps to choose an activity that quiets your mind a bit. For me, this is yoga. Many people find running to have a meditative quality. It could be as simple as a ten minute quiet walk where you pay attention to your breathing and the sensations in your body.

  2. Receive regular bodywork. Therapeutic massage and bodywork are some of the most effective ways I’ve seen (and experienced) for releasing stored emotion. When someone works on those knots in your shoulders you have from long held anger or stress, sometimes emotions will come up. I’ve had clients cry on my table—and sometimes they’ve known and shared why; other times, the pain is old and just hanging on in the muscles, waiting to be released. It’s important to remember that a massage therapist is a facilitator for these things—not a psychotherapist. Through bodywork, we can tap into these stored emotions and begin to process them ourselves, or if needed, with another professional.

  3. Make touch a part of your primary relationships. This sounds simple, obvious even. Unfortunately, we have become a very hands-off culture. Fewer and fewer of our daily interactions involve touch. As we rely on social media and smart phones for the bulk of our communication, our relationships often involve less physical contact than we need. Make a point of touching people on the arm or shoulder as you speak with them. Greet friends with a hug. Play a pick-up game of basketball instead of just watching the game. When we begin to remember that we are not just minds stuck inside a body, but body and mind working in concert, we can begin to heal old hurts in a deeper and lasting way.

Emotions and Essential Oils Guide > > >

Essential oils are relevant to energy work because energetic imbalances tend to eventfully manifest in the physical body. Because of this, essential oils and aromatherapy can be said to be inherently multi-dimensional and in essence integrated. For me, this makes them a wonderful bridge between subtle  (energetic) and biochemical (clinical) modalities that promote healing, balance and wellness.

Here is a helpful Chart on your Chakras and the corresponding emotion.
