Environment Poisoning
We are eating hybridized and genetically modified (GMO) foods full of antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, and additives that were unknown to our immune systems just a generation or two ago.
Dr. Frederick Miller of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences also believes that the increase in autoimmune diseases derives from a persons' surroundings.

Miller said:

"The best way to combat the rise in autoimmune diseases is to do research to understand the genetic and environmental risk factors for them, so that those who are at highest risk for developing disease after certain environmental exposures might be able to minimize those exposures and prevent the development of autoimmune disease."

Infertility, immune system disorders, obesity, and other chronic illness are on the rise, and it’s becoming very clear that environmental chemicals are at least partly to blame.
Yet, there is still a reluctance to acknowledge that when you poison nature, it is akin to poisoning yourself. The average American has 148 chemicals in his or her body, and this chemical exposure begins in your mother’s womb.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals, like phthalates and bisphenol-A, are interfering with hormones and linked to the rise in male birth defects and testicular cancer in young men. You’re exposed not only when you use products containing them, but plastics containing these chemicals are dumped into the environment, where the chemicals enter waterways, with unknown effects.
Nature is the source of Healing
Herbalist Matthew Wood said:
It is very seldom that herbs are strong enough to kill germs. A few of them can, but then they become drugs. Killing germs isn't how traditional medicine works.
It works instead by changing the environment, working to address imbalances in organ systems and tissue states, not targeting a specific bacteria with a single chemical extracted from a plant or synthesized in a lab.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, you could walk into a drug store and find hundreds of herbal extracts for sale. Upwards of 90 percent of the population at that time knew how to use the medicinal plants growing in their backyards to treat common illnesses and injuries; they had to, as this was virtually the only ‘medicine’ available.
With the rise of what is now known as conventional allopathic medicine shortly before World War One, herbalism slowly fell out of favor and became to be thought of as folk medicine. Rather than viewing nature as the source of healing, as had been done for centuries, people began to view drugs and other ‘modern’ healing methods as superior.
Herbs and Whole Foods are Complementary to Human Health
Herbs shine at healing the body, forming and informing a body.

Nature is the Force of healing.  Much of the human DNA is contained in Plants.

Most synthetic medications are based on compounds in plants. Scientists cannot create these substances but must, rather, try to make copies. But in their synthetic models they often end up with compounds that your body doesn’t recognize and doesn’t know how to handle:

You target a particular chemical and you hit it really hard, and the system is expected to just have the response that you want it to have, but actually you have all these other effects… we call these side effects. They’re not side effects, they’re effects, they’re just not the ones you wanted.
A plant, however, is a complex of thousands of biomolecules, many of which are countervailing, so if there’s one effective compound that may have a toxic effect, it usually contains a countervailing compound so that it doesn’t harm your liver, for example. It’s the interplay of chemicals that make the plant work, which is why you can’t study herbal medicine by isolating a certain element; you’ve got to study the whole plant. This is what conventional medicine is largely missing.

Plants are the First Element to Help Us Feel Better

Of course, the ultimate ‘herbalism’ is the food that you eat on a daily basis. Dark green leafy vegetables, herbs and spices are excellent sources of antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and anti-cancer substances that can dramatically influence your health. The real medicine is hiding in the produce department.
Previous Article: Reducing Inflammation found here > > >

Strongest herbal antibiotics: The most ferocious killers of 30 bacterial species in Cornell University tests are (in order) onion, garlic, allspice, oregano, thyme, tarragon, cumin, cloves, bay leaf and cayenne pepper.  The natural antibiotic compounds are more concentrated in dried herbs and spices, and Essential Oils.
Cinnamon is Good For You: Cinnamon may lower your diabetes risk. By triggering enzymes that stimulate insulin receptors and inhibiting enzymes that deactivate them, it can improve cells' ability to absorb glucose from the blood. Taking less than a half teaspoon daily for 40 days can decrease blood sugar by 25 percent. Cinnamon has also been found to reduce triglycerides and harmful cholesterol. It has to be Cinnamon, not Cassia.
Turmeric is Good For You: Turmeric is thought to have cancer-thwarting properties. UCLA researchers have found that curcumin, an antioxidant in the spice, can help prevent and treat head and neck cancers by blocking a protein that promotes tumor growth. That same protein causes joint inflammation, so curcumin could also reduce arthritis risk.
Coriander is Good For You: Coriander (known as cilantro in its leafy form) is a powerful bacteria fighter. A recent study found that oil from coriander seeds—which destroys dangerous cells by damaging their membranes and interfering with cellular respiration—is effective in wiping out strains from E. coli to salmonella.
Garlic is Good For You: Garlic helps protect your immune system by boosting production of infection-fighting white blood cells. In a British study, 70 people who took daily garlic supplements for 12 weeks came down with 24 colds, versus 65 colds in a placebo group of 72 people. Allicin, garlic's main active component, is thought to block enzymes that lead to viral infections. Fresh is always best!
Ginger is Good For You: Reach for ginger when you're feeling nauseated. Scientists believe that through various processes in the digestive tract—including blocking serotonin receptors in the small intestine—it can help keep you from throwing up. It also has anti-inflammatory properties: A 2010 study found that people who consumed two grams of ginger daily for 11 days experienced about a 25 percent drop in exercise-induced muscle pain. Using it in essential oil form is useful in muscle rubs and in bath salts.

Foods to eat every day and help you feel younger
Oranges - Even just one orange a day can help you feel younger. Not only is this delicious fruit packed with vitamin C, but it also boasts skin-firming collagen.
Broccoli - Just a half-cup of broccoli a day can make you feel energized while also boosting your immune system. Why? Because broccoli contains more than 2/3 of the daily recommended dose of vitamin C. Broccoli also has the nutrient sulforaphane, which helps with liver detoxification, and has properties that help fight cancer.
Low-fat yogurt -Low-fat yogurt  has a variety of health benefits. It provides the calcium and phosphorus that can boost tooth enamel, which will make your smile even brighter. In addition, yogurt consumption appears to help reduce skin wrinkling.
Bell peppers are chock-full of antioxidants, especially the brightly colored red, yellow and orange ones. Indeed, these peppers can boost immune function, ward off sun damage and even reduce your risk of several types of cancer.
All types of berries are good for you -- cranberries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries -- but the darker ones are the best as they usually have the highest concentration of antioxidants. Berries also have a lot of vitamin C, which is good for your skin.
Sweet potatoes offer an abundance of benefits, everything from antioxidants to anti-inflammatory agents. They also have vitamins A, C and E, which can help you maintain a lovely complexion and beautiful hair.
Carrots pack a lot of beta-carotene, which not only helps with skin-cell renewal, but acts as a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants are great for getting rid of free radicals that can make your skin age faster.
Beans
They contain loads of plant-base and protein, therefore it is a low-fat protein. They are the great substitution of meat. They are full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, which help to slow down aging process.
Dark/ Raw Chocolate
Cocoa is rich in flavanols that helps to preserve the healthy function of blood vessels. It contains lots of antioxidant which protects us from the sun damage. And it also hydrates our skin and reduces our wrinkles. Since there are different types of chocolate, such as milk chocolate, white chocolate, unsweetened chocolate, dark chocolate and raw chocolate. It sounds yummy, right? But not all the chocolate have benefits of anti-aging. Dark/ raw chocolate are the only one which provides the greatest benefits.
Red wine
It contains a large amount of antioxidants and nutrients. Some studies might also say that one glass of red wine per day can help us to prevent heart disease. Resveratrol is one of the most well recognized anti-aging components which is contained in red wine. It helps to improve our blood circulation and prevent blood clogs.
Top Fat Burning Foods

Knowing what kind of food that you should eat plays an important role in your diet. There are so many people who try to lose weight by taking a bunch of medicine or starving themselves which is not only unhealthy, but also not an efficient way to control your weight.

To eat light doesn’t necessarily mean to eat neglectfully. All the foods have their codes. You just have to remember that to eat unprocessed natural foods which are the foods that your body understands how to use them perfectly. Here are the top 10 foods for burning belly fat, let’s go find out what they are!

You may surprise that those little tart cherries can help you to burn out your belly fat, doesn’t it?

In a study conducted by the University of Michigan, it was found that a diet containing tart cherries may help lower symptoms of heart disease and metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a term used to refer to a group of symptoms which increase the risk of a host of heart diseases, diabetes and belly fat. In the study, the animal subjects had reduced cholesterol levels and a fat content of only 54 percent compared to the non-cherry fed group of 63 percent belly fat. Tart cherries have also been identified to have antioxidant properties.

Are you a fan of seafood? Well, this is might be a very good news for you! Seafood, when included in the diet, could result in a slimmer waist and better health. For those enjoying excellent health and ideal body weight, having seafood on a regular basis may even prevent possible future poor health and weight gain. Studies have shown that seafood has been found to contain monounsaturated fat (MUFA). Studies have also shown that having a regular diet with foods containing MUFA can prevent belly fat.

I remember my nutritionist told me that seafood is a good way to lose weight, because it has almost zero calorie. However, it has very high cholesterol unfortunately. So, if you have gout or high blood pressure, please be careful of taking seafood as your weight control diet!

I believe that you heard enough “one apple a day keeps the doctor away”. However, do you know apples can also help you to keep you in shape as well? Eat an apple after meals to help prevent indigestion.

In a Brazilian weight study, subjects who ate three apples a day while dieting lost more weight than those who didn’t. This fruit contains pectin, a compound that is known to inhibit colon cancer. Apples are packed with nutrients and are a rich source of vitamin C, beta-carotene, dietary fiber, phytosterol, flavonoids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Avocados - This fruit has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It contains the amino acid lecithin – which helps in preventing liver overload – and aids the memory and helps balance weight. In one study, it was discovered that people who ate a considerable amount of avocados showed clear improvement in health. It balances cholesterol levels and prevents heart attacks and strokes.
In a study conducted by the University of Kentucky, watermelon was found to have a significant effect on artery plaque deposits because it altered blood lipids and lowered the risk of developing belly fat. The researchers in the study observed that animal subjects in the experiment who had diet-induced high cholesterol were given a supplement of watermelon juice while another group was given a typical diet with water. Eight weeks later, the animals given watermelon juice had lower body weight than those who were just given water. It is also a diuretic (flushes water from. the body).  It appeared that there was no decrease in muscle mass and the weight loss was due to abdominal fat loss.

A large tomato contains only around 33 calories. Moreover, a recent study identified a compound extracted specifically from the fruit called 9-oxo-octadecadienoic (9-oxo-ODA) which was shown to influence the amount of blood lipids in circulation.

According to Dr. Teruo Kawada, the study leader, “finding a compound which helps the prevention of obesity-related chronic diseases in food stuff is a great advantage to tackling these diseases, and tomato allows people to manage the onset of dyslipedemia through their daily diet.” According to Wikipedia, Dyslipedemia is a condition where there is too much lipid in the blood. This normally caused by diet and lifestyle.

Celery is a negative calorie food containing only eight calories. It is high in vitamin C, calcium and is best enjoyed raw. Enjoying fresh celery juice before a meal can even help you lose weight. It contains apigenin, an active compound that slashes the risk of ovarian cancer. Eat Celery to alkalize your body!
Kelp noodles are a good alternative for those who love traditional noodles. They are made from seaweed and contain only six calories. They are raw and mineral rich and can be used like any regular noodles.

Bananas - This is a fruit you can enjoy as a nutritious snack without ever worrying about gaining weight. Like apples, it contains a fiber called pectin that is known to inhibit colon cancer. It also contains vitamin A, C, E, B6 as well as potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Bananas, depending upon the size, contain calories between 75 calories to 135 calories only

One study conducted in Florida in 2006 showed a slight increase in weight loss when grapefruit was added to a diet, but the test subjects also increased their physical activity slightly, which may explain the higher weight loss. On the other hand, the weight loss could be explained by the stabilization of insulin levels triggered by grapefruit or the replacement of high calorie foods by grapefruit.

Society as a whole must pay the price for the wholesale poison of our land, our air and our food supply.
Only after the last tree is cut down,
The last of the water poisoned,
The last Animal destroyed,
Only then will you realize -
You cannot eat money.

The report, "Violent Behavior: A Solution in Plain Sight,"  written by Sylvia Onusic, Ph.D., CNS, LDN, investigates reasons for the increase in violent behavior in America, specifically in teenagers.
Deficiencies of vitamins such as fat soluble - A, D, K,  water soluble -B1, B3, B6, B12 and folate, and of minerals iodine, potassium, iron, magnesium, zinc, chromium and manganese can all contribute to mental instability and violent behavior, according to a report published in the Spring 2013 issue of Wise Traditions, the journal of the Weston A. Price Foundation.

We can blame violence on the media and on the breakdown of the home, but the fact is that a large number of Americans, living mostly on devitalized processed food, are suffering from malnutrition. In many cases, this means their brains are starving.

In fact, doctors are seeing a return of nutritional deficiency diseases such as scurvy and pellagra, which were declared eradicated long ago by public health officials. Many of these conditions cause brain injuries as well.

Symptoms of pellagra, for example, include anxiety, hyperactivity, depression, fatigue, headache, insomnia and hallucinations. Pellagra is a disease caused by deficiency of vitamin B3. Zinc deficiency is linked with angry, aggressive, and hostile behaviors that result in violence. The best dietary sources of zinc are red meat and shellfish.
Leaky gut and gluten sensitivities may exacerbate nutrient deficiencies.
Gluten intolerance is strongly linked with schizophrenia.
Making things worse are excitotoxins so prevalent in the food supply, such as MSG and Aspartame, people who live on processed food and who drink diet sodas are exposed to these mind-altering chemicals at very high levels. In an effort to curb child obesity, the dairy industry recently petitioned FDA to include aspartame and other artificial sweeteners in dairy beverages featured in school lunches, without appropriate labeling. Recent research has established the fact that aspartame actually leads to weight gain because of its effect on insulin.
Other ingredients in the food supply linked to violent behavior
Other ingredients in the food supply linked to violent behavior include sugar, artificial colors and flavorings, caffeine, alcohol and soy foods. The toxic environmental burden includes mercury, arsenic, lead, fire retardants, pesticides, heavy metals and Teflon. Adding psychiatric drugs to this mix puts everyone at risk.
The Weston A. Price Foundation has pointed out the poor nutritional quality of school lunches and the flaws in the USDA dietary guidelines, which schools receiving federal funding are required to follow. At a press conference in January, 2010, the Foundation proposed guidelines that include eggs, organ meats and healthy animal fats. “Our brains need cholesterol to function properly,” said Fallon Morell, “and our children need cholesterol-rich food for optimal mental and emotional development.” Studies have shown that depressed individuals, offenders who show the most violent behavior, and the most violent suicides have low cholesterol levels.
In a recent study, polyamines, found in foods such as wheat germ, fermented soy, and matured cheeses, were shown to stave off memory decline in fruit flies.
Onusic first cites studies that show the vitamins A, D3 and K2 are all critical to brain development. For instance, researchers from the Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, Calif., described how vitamin D, which is widely distributed throughout the brain, affects portions of the brain involved in learning and memory, as well as motor control. Other scientists have shown how vitamin K2 is needed for the formation of myelin, which insulates the nerves.

Meanwhile, it is common knowledge that vitamin B maintains brain health. All our deficiencies in vitamins B1 or B3 may cause beriberi and pellagra, respectively, which include neurological symptoms such as confusion and even insanity. What many people don’t understand is that they may have ‘subclinical’ symptoms resulting from slight yet still significant shortages of these vitamins. Also critical for positive mental health, B6 is a precursor for 50 enzymes and is necessary for the process of methylation. Vitamin B12 has been correlated with irrational anger and mental disorders, Onusic stated in her article. “A higher incidence of low B12 is found in mental patients than in the general population,” she wrote. Finally, folate has been associated with fetal growth retardation when mothers receive an inadequate supply during pregnancy.

In fact, hypoglycemia, caused by a diet high in sugar as well as refined carbohydrates, could explain many examples of antisocial behavior. With co-researchers Hippchen, Schauss, and others, he discovered that hypoglycemia causes the brain to secrete the neurotoxin glutamate, which may lead to agitation, depression, anger, anxiety, panic attacks, and violent behavior.
...Our intestinal bacteria are actually to be considered an organ just like our heart and brain, and the presence of health-promoting bacteria must therefore be cared for in the best way possible.

According to recent research from Denmark, in which they analyzed the human gut microbial composition on 292 people (169 of them obese and 123 of healthy weight), a quarter of the participants were found to have 40 percent fewer gut bacteria than the average needed for optimal health. Obese participants were particularly at risk of having too little beneficial bacteria to maintain health. Oluf Pedersen, professor and scientific director at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen told Medical News Today:

"Not only has this quarter fewer intestinal bacteria, but they also have reduced bacterial diversity and they harbor more bacteria causing a low-grade inflammation of the body...

Our study shows that people having few and less diverse intestinal bacteria are more obese than the rest. They have a preponderance of bacteria which exhibit the potential to cause mild inflammation in the digestive tract and in the entire body, which is reflected in blood samples that reveal a state of chronic inflammation, which we know from other studies to affect metabolism and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

...Our intestinal bacteria are actually to be considered an organ just like our heart and brain, and the presence of health-promoting bacteria must therefore be cared for in the best way possible.”

Ideally, you want to eat a variety of fermented foods to maximize the variety of bacteria. Keep in mind that eating fermented foods may not be enough if the rest of your diet is really poor. Your gut bacteria are an active and integrated part of your body, and as such are vulnerable to your overall lifestyle. If you eat a lot of processed foods for instance, your gut bacteria are going to be compromised because processed foods in general will destroy healthy microflora and feed bad bacteria and yeast. Your gut bacteria are also very sensitive to:
  • Antibiotics
  • Chlorinated water
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Agricultural chemicals
  • Pollution
